This major is designed for students who desire a deeper understanding of the ideas that orient our lives and world. Philosophy students learn to analyze ways of thinking, question foundational assumptions, cooperatively debate controversial topics, confidently define their values, and then turn those skills to creative problem solving.

The Philosophy major is uniquely focused on supporting students’ growth as ethical thinkers through self-reflection, exploration of foundational ideas, and cooperative debate. Most students who major in Philosophy go on to 4-year schools to pursue a degree in Law, Psychology, Education, Marketing & Communications, or Philosophy. This is because the Philosophy major is an excellent foundation for pursuing any field or career with moral clarity, creativity, and rigor.
